| 2007 |
Mitch and I met through a friend of a friend back in 2006. I had met a guy named K.C. that my best friend Preslie went to school with and became friends with him. K.C. lived in Eureka with his father but lived with his mom during the summer in Oak City (where Mitch is from). K.C. was best friends with Mitch and during the summer time they would be hanging out when K.C. and I were talking on the phone to one another. K.C. would randomly have me say hello to his friend Mitch and over time through phone conversations I learned a little more about Mitch. In December of 2006 Mitch came up to Goshen (where I am from) and meet me face-to-face. We formally introduced ourselves and talked for a little bit before K.C. and Mitch went home.
My first impression of Mitch was that he was a nice kid but seemed a little shy and that nothing would ever work out between us, little did I know I would marry this man and be sealed to him forever! As time went on Mitch and I would talk via email and got to know each other a little better. March of 2007 was the first time we officially hung out, we went to a Victim Effect concert in Provo, Utah and we both had a great time. Mitch was even offered an opportunity to go and have dinner with the band members, but turned it down because he had promised me that he was going to come back to my place to hang out for a bit.
After that night, Mitch and I continued to hang out and once I turned 16 in September of 2007 Mitch took me on my first real date. For our date we went to a park and colored in coloring books because he knew that I love to color :) ! We then went to Trafalga where he kicked my butt in mini-put and I kicked his butt in Ski-Ball and Air Hockey! We then went to eat out at Golden Corral and back to Goshen where we went star gazing! It was a great night!
After our first date we continued to date until he left for his mission a year later. Mitch was called to the Washing DC South mission and left for two years on August 2008. I was still in high school while he was on his mission and I just kept myself busy with Drill Team and Student Council while he was gone. We wrote to each other almost every week for two years! We became so close through those letters, it was such a blessing! Mitch then returned home from his mission in July of 2010!
We both started college together in August, him at UVU and me at BYU, and got engaged September 12th. He proposed to me in Oak City up the canyon where we were having tin-foil dinners. He serenaded me with a song that he had wrote for me then got down on one knee and proposed! We then planned a wedding for two months and got married on November 12th, 2010, and the rest is history!!
